Lots of Posts

We were working men today. Most of the day was spent setting fence posts for a new fence around the coffee drying tunnels close to the school. We were assisted by a couple of hard-working Ranch kids; one in the morning and another working in the afternoon. The tunnels were recently renovated to provide better airflow by leaving a gap at ground level. So, the staff would like to keep any animals out of the tunnels by putting in a fence around the whole group of tunnels.

Incidentally, the coffee harvest is going on now. Some of the Ranch kids participate in the agriculture program to earn some money and they spend a little time harvesting and/or sorting the beans into the tunnels and picking out any bad ones.  The harvest is expected to result in about 12,000 pounds of beans or more.

After a hard day's work, we had a break time before dinner and a couple of us went to watch the older kids play soccer, oh excuse me, football with the some of the mentor parents. It was a lovely afternoon.

They have been feeding us very well. We are eating the same food that the kids are eating and some of it is new to us or in a form that is new to us. The fresh pineapple is especially delicious.

Tonight, after dinner, we had a game time with the older kids. A rousing game of Phase 10 and a few other games occupied our time together. A good time was had by all who wanted to have a good time.

A few pictures from our day:

Of course, by the end of the day we were tired!

And hungry! Let's use those big spoons again!
