Children, Coffee & Christ

Today we had a change of pace and got to visit the WGO Kids at Rancho Ebenezer. We got to play with them at recess and we were all wiped out by the end while all the kids were still full of energy. Some team members played a very competitive game of soccer with the kids. Some of us tried to keep up, while others got schooled, or as the kids say "cocinar" which means cooked. We ended up learning some new moves from them! They are definitely pro soccer players in the making. Others were taught new handshakes and got all their steps in for the day within 30 minutes by playing tag.

It was a special time for sponsors who got to spend time with the kid(s) they support. They support them with a monthly donation, additionally they were able to purchase their artwork. We hope the kids got as much out of this as we did! If you would like to support the children's ministry, you can do so through prayer and you can become a sponsor to any of the kids. Another large part of the ranch is their coffee production. We learned the art and process of making the perfect Honduran, medium roast coffee. A majority of this is made possible by the older WGO teens, who work to harvest the beans from the trees to the shelf. We are amazed by the work that goes on behind the scenes to produce this world class coffee! Needless to say, the coffee is Peace Lutheran Church approved.

We ended our time at the ranch by getting a tour of the property and homes of the children. The space that the children have is incredible with many places to play including playgrounds and soccer fields. Finally, we ended with lunch where we bonded with the kids and learned fun facts like their favorite color and of course their favorite soccer players before we said goodbye.

Before we ended our day, we got to see El Picacho, a giant statue of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ looking out over the city. We are blessed to have the opportunity to see this beautiful monument to our Lord. The statue reminds us that Jesus is always with us and protecting this city.

Please continue to pray for our health and strength as we continue to serve the community in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
