The Importance of Water and Living Water

Today we learned the extreme importance of clean water in the barrios that we served even though it is something that we take for granted back in the States. Coincidentally, today was water delivery day in the community that team B served, which meant that many people stayed at home waiting for the water truck to arrive. While we served less people, we made up for it by serving many people in multiple areas (optical, dental, medical, etc.).

Between the two teams in the last two days, we were able to install 24 water filters in Honduran homes. We learned from one of the pastors that people spend 10% or more of their income on clean water. These filters will be a huge blessing to the households and the communities in which they were delivered. While these filters provide for their physical needs by turning dirty water into purified drinking water, they also served as a teaching tool and helped us explain how Christ is our living water and takes care of our spiritual needs by cleansing us from sin.

A highlight today on both teams was the amount of people that received Christ as their Savior. Yesterday during team sharing we discussed the importance of our role in planting the seed of Christ and then letting the Holy Spirit take over. We felt very blessed and filled with gratitude to see some of those seeds flourish today through the power of the Holy Spirit and prayer.

Here are some photos from our day:
