What a long and strange journey our Rancho Ebenezer team has taken to finally arrive in Honduras! Chris, Danny, Steve and Darlene left Chicago very early Saturday after a 2 1/2 hour delay. They landed in Dallas in time to catch their next flight, but after sitting on the plane for 3 plus hours the airline cancelled the flight and they had to stay overnight in Dallas. They were booked on standby for a 6 a.m. flight to Miami, but that flight was also delayed 2 hours and they missed the last flight to Honduras. Darlene had had enough and flew back to Chicago, but the others stayed overnight in Miami and caught a morning flight to Honduras. They are FINALLY here with the four of us who stayed for a second week. Alleluia brother!

We started our work project today, which is to reconstruct the ground-mounted Rancho Ebenezer sign. Jan and Carla cleaned up the site of the sign, and then Carla went into the city with our mission host Kris Nelson to buy some flowers to accent the sign. Martin and Tom worked on building the forms for the concrete sign letters. We had some help from one of the Ranch kids. He primarily helped Jan cut some wire mesh that will be used as reinforcement in the concrete letters. We were able to make enough progress on the forms that we should be able to finish them up tomorrow morning and then pour some concrete in the afternoon.

But we are also looking forward to doing the weekly devotion for the kids in the morning. Tonight, we did a dress rehearsal for our presentation of the story of Esther. Jan and Carla brought some wonderful costumes, which should make the presentation extra special.

Here are a few pictures from the day:
