Today was kind of like kindergarten. We practiced our letters, we painted, and we played on the school playground.
In the morning, Tom and Martin made the forms for the extra letters that we need to spell Rancho Ebenezer and in the afternoon they cast the concrete letters. Having a little extra concrete, they cast a concrete cross to add to the sign. They also began prepping the site where the sign is to be located and spent some time pondering how to get the letters up the hill and into place.
The rest of the crew spent the day at Casa Gozo cleaning and painting. Trying to clean the glass panels of the jalousie windows proved difficult, but cleaning the light fixtures was downright frightening for Jan. As she removed the glass globe on one of the light fixtures a whole string of bugs draped down at her face. This is not a posed picture:
Nevertheless, Jan and Steve enjoyed each other's company and had a productive day.
Carla, Danny and Chris also had a productive time painting one large and two small bathrooms. While they were prepping to paint, they were surprised when a toilet supply hose burst and sprayed water up to the ceiling. Undaunted, they cleaned up the mess and finished the job. A Ranch worker replaced the broken hose and all was well.
The painting crew took a break late in the morning and toured the Ebenezer Academy facilities.
Not only do we take our meals with the kids, we also have an opportunity to play with them at the schoolyard and/or on the soccer field. Today, Carla, Chris and Danny met up with some of the kids at school to play basketball and make bubbles with some bubble wands that Carla brought. It was a hit!
There were two special deliveries at the Ranch today. With some of the money donated to the team, we were able to purchase two new refrigerators and one new freezer for the main kitchen at the Ranch. Everyone at the Ranch sends out a big thank you to all our supporters!
The other big delivery was Steve's checked bag, which was lost by the airline on the trip to Honduras. He is a very happy camper!
The rest of this week will fly by, so we ask you to continue to pray for us. This sign you see below is posted in the main dining room. We hope it prompts you to pray for our health and for God to be glorified through our serving at the Ranch and in the local community. Thursday will be our day to do projects off the Ranch. Some of us will be delivering water filters and the rest of us will be building a concrete floor at an individual's home.
